Project: Multi-Camera Concurrent High-Speed Storage Solution
Application Background
In multi-camera vision applications such as 3D stereoscopic reconstruction, multi-camera image stitching, and multi-camera surveillance, it is essential not only to synchronize the control and image capture of multiple cameras but also to save the synchronized image data in real time for subsequent playback and algorithmic analysis. This imposes higher demands on the system’s multi-camera control capabilities, instantaneous high-speed data transfer, real-time high-volume data storage, and stability.
Solution Overview
The project uses StreamPix software to simultaneously connect and control 16×1.3MP GigE industrial cameras. Through external triggering, all 16 cameras operate at their full frame rate of 75fps, achieving lossless, uncompressed, continuous concurrent acquisition and storage for up to 7 hours without frame loss.
To enable real-time storage of high-volume image data streams from multiple cameras while maintaining control, the project employs StreamPix by Norpix (Canada), a professional high-speed storage software with the following features:
l Lossless or compressed, stable real-time recording with zero frame loss
l Supports multiple camera types and frame grabbers
l Enables synchronous multi-camera acquisition and playback
l Exports images in BMP, TIFF, multi-TIFF, JPEG, PNG, FITS, AVI, and MOV formats
