Background

With the continuous development of machine vision technology, automobile manufacturing industry has become one of the main application fields of machine vision. Automobile door coating is one of the important processes of automobile manufacturing industry, which is related to the appearance of the car and the visual experience of customers. The coating quality of the automobile door directly affects the anti-corrosion property and the safety of the car.

DAHENG IMAGING's automobile door coating quality inspection system for machine vision can identify defects such as particles, dents and bubbles on the surface of the doors, discover the defective products in time and improve production efficiency and intelligence process.


Requirements

The door of the car

For the inspection of the coated car door, the inspection area is showed as P0 in the picture, with a size of about 1100 mm × 180 mm.

l   Defects are particles, shrinkage cavity, bubbles, blisters, etc. Those common feature are small bumps or dents on the surface of the coating film.

l   Defect size classification: large ( > 2 mm ), medium ( 1 mm ~ 2 mm ), small ( 0.5 mm ~ 1 mm ), micro (< 0.5 mm ).

l   The car body is located on the conveyor belt, allowing stationary photos

l   The measured surface has semi-mirrored characteristics, with slightly orange peel details.


Solution

DAHENG IMAGING's machine vision automobile door coating quality inspection system selects four high-resolution area scan cameras installed at the same height, forming an 1100 mm × 276 mm rectangular field of view. Using the deflectometry technology, with a special flat screen light source, the software generates a specific set of pictures and displays them sequentially on the LCD screen, meanwhile the camera takes images in order. Scratches or dents will reflect light from different angles, and the deflectometry method is also able locate the corresponding area within the pattern, and finally analyze the defect and determine the size.
