With the In-depth promotion of the new round of technological revolution and industrial reform, countries around the world have accelerated the push of 5G applications. MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing), which acts as a bridge of industrial network and 5G，using end-to-end overall solution to provide users with lower latency, higher bandwidth and reliable service experience. In Vision China 2021, Shanghai, DAHENG IMAGING MERCURY2 GigE camera together with Huawei 5G network and edge computing equipment to demonstrate a 5G MEC-based Cloud-Edge-Device Synergy industrial vision solution to the public. This solution consists of image acquisition equipment, lossless compression-capable SDK, 5G MEC platform (MEP), lossless decompression service, user plane functions (UPFs) and machine vision applications.
Image data from MERCURY2 GigE camera can achieve 3 to 6 times lossless compression of uplink HD image data through the above-mentioned Huawei SDK lossless decompression service and 5G modules. It solves the problem of high-definition image transmission in machine vision as well as industrial manufacturing that requires too much wireless uplink bandwidth.
Huawei 5G MEC allows users to run the industrial vision algorithm on computing nodes at the operators' edge, providing dense computing power, reducing cost, and satisfying high data security requirements. This innovative cloud-edge-device synergy solution collaborates with the cloud training platform to update the industrial vision edge reasoning algorithms online, and manages algorithms used on different edge nodes in a unified manner, simplifying operation and maintenance.
1. Wireless method can achieve longer distance transmission, meanwhile installation and deployment is no longer constrained by laying out cables.
2. Only the cameras and 5G terminals need to be installed on the field inspection nodes, cutting down the need for industrial personal computer’s installation space. Only a very small number of 5G MEC nodes are required to receive and process camera data for the entire production line, which greatly saves the installation space and increases the installation flexibility.
3. Huawei 5G MEC allows users to run the industrial vision algorithm on computing nodes at the operators' edge, providing dense computing power, reducing cost, and satisfying high data security requirements.
4. The use of MEC nodes reduces the number of devices, simplifies the process of upgrading, improves the security of data computing, and unifies the maintenance management as well as updating.
